Abstract

De.sul.fi.ti.spo’ri.a. N.L. neut. pl. n. Desulfitisporia theclass of the type order Desulfitisporales.The class Desulfitisporia forms a deep-branching phylogenetic lineage in the phylum “Firmicutes B” and includes obligately anaerobic haloalkaliphilic sulfidogenic bacteria with respiratory metabolism. Currently,
it consists of a single order Desulfitisporales, family Desulfitisporaceae, and genus Desulfitispora.
