    Abstract

To validate the routing service, the route deviation service and the runway incursion service of an Electronic Flight Bag in a realistic environment, a real-time simulation of the operational use was needed. To achieve the desired simulation environment, several existing and individually developed simulation platforms at different locations have been integrated into a distributed simulation. To connect the simulation platforms, so-called wrappers have been developed. To be able to simulate the anticipated protocols to be used in the future over the digital datalink, the linkages were modeled. To be able to perform the simulation in spite of the fact that the required airborne data processing unit still needs to be developed, a so-called filler was implemented. The integrated simulation has been successfully completed in Janaury 2005.
