Abstract

Op 1 juli 2016 is de Erfgoedwet inwerking getreden. Daarmee sluit Nederland aan op een internationale trend van vernieuwing van wetgeving voor cultureel erfgoed. De oorsprong van deze trend is de publicatie van het Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society in 2005, kortweg het Verdrag van Faro. Het stelt integenstelling tot oudere verdragen niet het hoe en wat van erfgoedzorg centraal, maar het waarom en waartoe.
