Abstract

Visibility can be defined as the extent to which the spaces between the walls and obstacles are visible to one another in excavated towns or buildings. Space syntax offers a quantitative method to measure various degrees of visibility, based on visual sightlines of a built environment's spaces. The application of space syntax in archaeology contributes to new knowledge on socioeconomic life based on the degree of visibility of the physical form of past built environments.
