Mekong delta: drought and erosion

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleProfessional

Abstract

The very south of Vietnam has to deal with droughts, mangrove deterioration and coastal erosion. Inspired by the Netherlands, the Mekong Delta Plan contains freshwater reservoirs similar to the Dutch Lake IJssel. It can be argued, however, that freshwater supply is better served by aqueducts.
Along the coast, mangrove forests suffer from sediment loss, which asks for innovative solutions.
