Oxygen therapy in preterm infants is mainly concerned with finding a balance between the need for additional oxygen and preventing damage due to oxygen free radicals.  But However, oxygen therapy is about more than providing additional oxygen. It also includes the transportation and delivery of the oxygen and in the end the extraction of oxygen fitting the tissue’s needs should be the goal of the therapy.
