Abstract
Engaging the poetry masterclass “Poems in Space: Eau de Cologne/sour theater” that took place in a master-level studio-course of architecture, this paper examines the role of poetry in exploring the stories of a place and in building students’ capacity for storytelling. The masterclass was a collaboration between an architect and a poet and built on pedagogical precedents that have looked into poetry and poetic language from an architectural perspective. The paper presents this theoretical underpinning and then proceeds to discuss the way the masterclass unfolded, both in terms of methodology and assignments.
