River basins as living organisms: Balancing preservation and development

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlePopular

Hydrological modelling is crucial for daily water management, but conventional models are static and do not adequately treat the compensating feedback mechanisms of dynamic ecosystems. New approaches in hydrological sciences are starting to do this, making them better and simpler. Hydrology meets ecology: the way forward.
