Abstract

The stable and unstable breaching process is simulated using the 2DV Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations. Previous papers on this topic show that stable and unstable breaching behavior can be predicted. Experimental validation was however lacking up till now. A series of large scale test were carried out in the Dredging Laboratory of Delft University of Technology. Results of some test are used to validate the numerical results. The influence of different pickup functions is investigated. Agreement between experiments and simulations is good.
