Abstract
This work deals with the singular linear quadratic regulator (LQR) problems for systems that are described by differential-algebraic equations (DAEs). We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for such a problem to be solvable. Then, we show that for such systems, the singular LQR problem can be solved using a proportional-derivative (PD) state-feedback controller whenever the necessary and sufficient condition is satisfied.
