Abstract

The present study presents a methodology to derive flood-induced fragility functions of chemical facilities. In this work, simple load-resistance relationships will be developed to provide required data for logistic regression. Developing fragility functions for different failure modes such as floating, buckling, and sliding, Bayesian network is employed to combine the fragility functions to obtain an aggregate failure probability while taking into account common causes and conditional dependencies. The application of the methodology has been demonstrated on chemical atmospheric storage tanks.
