Description

Dataset accompanying paper, "Tracking fluorescent and ferrimagnetic sediment tracers on an energetic ebb-tidal delta to monitor grain size-selective dispersal", published in Ocean & Coastal Management in 2021. We conducted a sediment tracer study on Ameland ebb-tidal delta (the Netherlands) to determine sediment transport patterns as a function of grain size, with the goal of supporting future coastal sand nourishments. Sediment samples were obtained via shipboard Van Veen grab and dried in the laboratory. Fluorescent and ferrimagnetic tracer particles were separated visually and magnetically from native background sediment. Tracer particles were counted and sized via digital microscope, whereas native sediment was sized using a Malvern Mastersizer. Data is stored in netcdf format.
