Elena M. Millana is a Margarita Salas Postdoctoral Fellow (Ministry of Universities, Government of Spain, funded by the European Union) at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). 

Research interests

Her research focuses on collective housing beyond the nuclear family, namely on individual small living units that are often complemented by use options that offer more complex ways of living together.

She is a member of the Collective Housing (UPM) and Architecture Archives of the Future (TU Delft) research groups and a research associate at the Jaap Bakema Study Centre, Nieuwe Instituut, in Rotterdam.

Academic background

Elena holds a Master and PhD in Advanced Architectural Projects (UPM), with the ‘Cum Laude’ and ‘International Doctorate’ distinctions, and she received the ‘Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award 2020-2021’ (UPM).
