Luca is currently working at the Department of Engineering Structures of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences in TU Delft as a Postdoc Researcher.
Previously, Luca completed a BSc (2014) and a MEng (2017) in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Naples, Federico II (Italy). Between 2018 and 2022, Luca carried out his doctoral studies at Department of Engineering Science of the University of Oxford (Solid Mechanics and Materials group).
His PhD project was funded by EPSRC and Rolls-Royce (iCASE) and focused on friction damping effects on mechanical systems. Particularly, Luca worked on the development of a fundamental understanding of how friction affects the dynamics behaviour of discrete mechanical systems, using both theoretical and experimental approaches.
Luca also worked as a Research Intern at ISAE-ENSMA Institut PPrime of Poitiers (France) in 2017 and as a College Lecturer at Balliol College (Univ. of Oxford), teaching Mathematics, Structures and Dynamics to Engineering undergraduate students (2019-2021).
Luca’s research at TU Delft is focused on the development of physics-enhanced Gaussian Process approached for monitoring of structures with localised nonlinearities. In general, his research interests and expertise include nonlinear dynamics, friction damping and dynamic testing.
