AdLap Systems: A versatile modular Advanced Laparoscopy robot platform with fully reusable cable-less instrument actuators with interaction force sensing

Project Details

Description

Around the 31 million laparoscopic procedures are performed each year. Unfortunately, eighty percent of hospitals worldwide are financially not wealthy enough to purchase expensive robotic surgical systems with instruments that can cost up to 14kEuro per procedure and have a negative impact on our climate. An alternative driving mechanism was developed and implemented in new hand-held instruments that are fully modular, easily cleaned and reusable. Based on our state-of-the-art steering technology, our new Advanced Laparoscopy (AdLap) system will be developed to a TRL6 demonstrator that fits the market needs of a wider range of hospitals all over the world.
