Project Details
Description
Like other transportation sectors, aviation is currently the source of many impacts on ecosystems, natural resources and human health. Its contribution to climate change is an example. More efficient and sustainable aircraft are needed to mitigate the aeronautic industry’s footprint on the environment. The EU-funded GENESIS project will set a technology and sustainability roadmap to transition to electric and hybrid aircraft. Relying on technology foresight analyses, it will provide the means for prospective life cycle assessments, which can quantify potential environmental impacts over the entire value chain of aircraft systems. Overall, the project’s findings will help steer research and boost industrial innovation and competitiveness in the EU while moving towards environmentally sustainable aviation.
