Abstract

The essay published in rita_09 is a result of a research that studies Van Eyck’s house in Loenen aan de Vecht, an unpublished project from 1964. This paper tries, firstly, to narrate the discovery of the project. Secondly, to analyze the theoretical framework, that is, the approach and methodology that allow the elaboration of the analysis. This project was not the original subject of the thesis. It is found after a previous work of understanding the writings by Van Eyck through the reading of his references. After the first visit to the house, the ultimate goal of the investigation changes to the aim of rescuing an architectural project for history. In order to achieve this, the concept of history from Walter Benjamin is used, learning from the works of John Berger or Josep Quetglas. The method does not seek to clarify the house but to complicate it, to widen it in depth. However, the mechanisms that objectify the research are also described.
