    Abstract

In this paper, we discuss an omni-directional extension of seismic modeling based on the one-way propagator to take into account not only reflected waves but also horizontally propagating waves, such as refracted waves, diving waves and duplex waves. Then, we present a novel seismic migration and tomography method to simultaneously exploit reflected waves including internal multiples and horizontal waves by formulating an omni-directional extension of so-called joint migration inversion process, which is a seismic imaging algorithm based on one-way propagators, used in a two-way mode, to estimate both velocity and reflectivity models by exploiting reflected waves, including internal multiples and transmission effects. Finally, initial numerical results are shown to demonstrate the validity of this method.
