Abstract

There is an increased interest in intermodal transport as a competitive alternative to meet the need of growing road transportation reducing congestion and environmental pollution. A three-stage modeling approach for the design and organization of intermodal transportation services was developed. The approach contains feedback-loops to learn from more detailed insights and has been successfully applied for two new terminal locations.
