CV

I studied biology and mathematics at the University of Amsterdam, and obtained my PhD in mathematics from Leiden University in 1992. After postdoctoral positions at Caltech and the University of Tübingen, I joined the TU Delft in 1996 with a KNAW Research Fellowship. In 1998 I received a permanent position, and in 2006 I was appointed an Antoni van Leeuwenhoek professor. I held a Vidi and a Vici subsidy from NWO. From 2012 to 2018, I was editor-in-chief of the member magazine Nieuw Archief voor Wiskunde of the Royal Dutch Mathematical Society, and since 2019 I am editor-in-chief of Indagationes Mathematicae. In 2024 I was elected a member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts and Sciences.
