Sierd de Vries’ research aims to create perspectives for the sustainable development of dynamic coastal landscapes. Coastal landscapes are increasingly governed by the complex interaction between a natural system that is influenced by human interventions. Sierd develops knowledge through field observations, numerical modelling and design that inform engineering for the sustainable development of coastal landscapes.
