Abstract
Reliability is an important aspect of LED-based systems and modules, as long lifetime is an important selling argument. Besides, LED modules are specific solutions for specific applications. As a result of the strong customization, reliability estimations for LED-based modules start practically from scratch.
Therefore there is a need for a generic system level reliability approach for lifetime and reliability estimations of LED systems. This paper describes our approach to determine system reliability based on the known failure distributions of the sub-components.
